I have just recieved the first of three commision sketches I have ordered by differant artists.

The sketch is by CK Russell aka mangagirl http://www.scoundrelpublishing.com/spart/viewtopic.php?t=8339 link to see some of her other work and links.

I know a few of you have some great commision sketches and thought they could do with there own thread. So please post pictures and links to the artists.

Yes I like that. Nice to see an artist not copying a well-known Who image too. Refreshing.

I know this card has been reproduced on this Forum before, but as it's such a fine card IMHO (and I now have it in my collection!) I thought I'd post it again.

It'll be going on my Collectors Page soon:

My sketch by CK Russell aka mangagirl arrived today. Nine day from order to delivery from Canada is a great turn around time.

Nice.

Do these sketch artists just never apply to do work for Strictly Ink's Who sketch cards, or is there some other reason they don't do them?

To my untrained eye, the sketches themselves certainly look well good enough!

I think some of the artists are just doing there first sketch cards and learning the to do them. Like many some also have full time job. As you say they would be great on some of the offical card set.

Picked this one up recently, directly from the artist at the bargain price (IMHO) of GBP12 including postage from the US!!!

As Don Pedicini Jr is contributing to the Big Screen Additions sketch cards, he's now officially a Who sketch card artist, and based on this sketch, I reckon he'll be a desirable artist too!!!:

That is a very nice card. There has been a few regular sketch card set artists posting Doctor Who sketches on ebay. I have got one coming from Siplon that he had in the description that it was a sample. I am wondering if these cards were samples for the upcoming Inkworks set. I hope so.

Nice card, Craig, although not being a sketch card expert like you, I'm ashamed to say I've never heard of the chap!

The Rose sketch card by Don Pedicini Jr arrived today too. I'm pleased to say that it is indeed a sample for the forthcoming Inkworks set and is marked on the back as such (also dated 27th August 2008).

I just went to buy the other one of Don's cards but someone beat me to it. I thought of getting it earlier but was waiting to have some money in my paypal account. I added a link to Siplon's site so you can check out his work. In the gallery he has a step by step process of how he does his cards and uses a Who card to show it.

Yes Rose is indeed a sample that I sent in on a blind submission. I am unsure if they will even have sketch cards but it doesn't hurt to send something in just in case. Fingers crossed. Sittin9duck I should be having other Doctor Who artwork available at some point shortly.

Nice to see you on here, Sir. Thank you for posting!!

As I've said elsewhere, because I'm only a Who sketch card collector, my paths don't cross with many sketch artists (like your good self) until they do a Who set...all part of the fun!!!

My first non official sketch, I think it's kind of cute...

The original card looks a lot better "in the flesh" so to speak.

The artist is Grant Gould, he is better known for his Star Wars work and as far as I know it is his only Doctor Who piece so far.

I bought it from a guy who is selling his collection over on the Scoundrel Art Forum, not directly from the artist. There is a great pool of talent over there with many of the artists having thier own distinctive styles and I feel it would be a great resource for cost effective unique sketch cards.

Mr Gould does accept commission work and has his own website/blog type thing, you can find it by googling him.

There are some great artists offering very reasonable prices for a commission. The 1st Doctor by Darren Chandler was only a pound for the commission. Commissions can by a great way to get some sketches.

A nice Grant Gould sketch.

Nice sketches everyone!

Since it has no call to be here, the art lies in the fact that it is here!

There are some great artists who do commissions but have not yet had the chance to do an official set. They practice by doing commissions and build up a following of fans which will all help them get on a set. Then so will just do it for fun. You can see some beautiful cards posted on the scoundrel site in many different styles.

Got this great sketch by Jeremy Treece. I have asked artists to do me a sketch of the 4th Doctor with cyberman or dalek but so far this is the only one with a dalek.
