You can display pictures in your posts by uploading a image to the Richardwho server and placing a image tag (Click for more info on image tags) in the text of your message. In an attempt to make this a bit easier for the non-tech people there is a screen that allows you to upload the picture and creates the image links for you ready to be cut and pasted into your message.
Start a new topic or reply to an existing topic and the input form is displayed. At the top of that form is a link titled "Upload a File" with a {Go} button next to it. Press the {go} Button
The "Upload a file to this forum" page should now be displayed. At the top are instructions. Please read them.
Just below the instructions is the "Upload Form" which is used to transfer your picture file to the Richardwho server.
Press the {Browse..} Button to identify and select the picture file on YOUR computer that you want to use in your message. Now just press the {Upload File} button. This begins the transfer of the file from your computer to the Richardwho server. This could take a bit of time depending on the size of the file and the speed of your connection.
Once the file transfer is complete the Upload Successful page should be displayed telling you the name assigned to the file you uploaded. Remember your username has been added to the beginning of the file name and any necessary character replacements made.
Just below that you will fine the Image tag that you should use in your message (highlighted in white in the image below). Either note the information or as most do you can copy the text (ctrl-C) and past it later (ctrl-V).
Now press the "Return to the message input form" link.
Back on the form where you enter your forum messages just type (or past) the image tag into your message wherever you want the picture displayed.
For the techno heads. The image tag can also display images not on the Richardwho server. Simply enclose the fully qualified URL of a picture in the image tag and you don't need to upload it to the server. |
